Whenever writers give talks about their work, the one question they are guaranteed to be asked is “Where do you get your ideas?”
For this collection, we at The Fine Line thought we’d ask writers a slightly different question: what words inspire you.
We gave them a maximum of 100 words with which to explain their choice and ignored their complaints about it not being long enough.
By the time the deadline arrived, we’d received over 100 submissions: idiosyncratic, funny, moving, sad and, yes, inspiring. They’re backstories to the writing process and snapshots of the many muses.
